Alric Fernandes is a freelance photographer & videographer based in Mumbai. With a background in traditional and unconventional documentary photography, he aims to delve into the ambiguous, subjective, and idiosyncratic nature of the assignments at hand as opposed to simply photographing a person or event.
A practice rooted in embracing manifestations of imperfection, the ineffable nature between time and memory, and accountability of the language of photography continue to play a vital role in his usage of the medium. Moreover, visual influences through the projects of Lewis Bush, Rajyashri Goody, Sinna Nasseri, Andre D. Wagner, Anastasia Samoylova, Alejandro Cartagena, Evgenia Arbugaeva, Jamel Shabazz, Dina Litovsky, and Zahra Amiruddin, amongst others, compels the prominence of experience over information throughout his work.
